Jabs

Published on by Jennifer

So we went to get our vaccination jabs today. Antoine and I went to Institut Pasteur for hepatitis-A and rabies immunisations, and to be perfectly honest, I was a little nervous since my last jab was apparently back in 1997. The French doctors were not impressed with my long hiatus but they were pleasant enough to let me off with just two immunisations. The catch is that the Rabies one is done over three sessions. Well we can't complain, don't want to be catching any raving animal diseases! The injection itself wasn't painful much, I squirm more plucking my eyebrows. Though I would have appreciated a lolly afterwards. Back in the 90s, it was only procedure to hand out a consolation prize!

But my my, health comes at a cost! The two vaccinations set us back over 200 euros each. Thats equivalent to 6 traveling days' worth of money. Whoo... Money is running out fast even before we set off to our first destination!

So the countdown continues - we're still aiming to start 1st August. Still looking for the right travel insurance and get the visas. Means only one thing: emptying the bank!

But we know it's going to be so, so worth it.

Yay, I can't wait!

No America? Shame.

By the way, the title quote saddens me as I still do not know how to ride a bike.
America is difficult to reach over land.. But hey, I'm going to save up the America trip when I've got enough money to travel luxury-style!

And I reckon a tricycle will have the same effect :)

Ouchies!!! I hate vaccinations! Surely you could have gotten the immunizations done in Bristol? Don't you have student health care? xo
