So we went to get our vaccination jabs today. Antoine and I went to Institut Pasteur for hepatitis-A and rabies immunisations, and to be perfectly honest, I was a little nervous since my last jab was apparently back in 1997. The French doctors were not impressed with my long hiatus but they were pleasant enough to let me off with just two immunisations. The catch is that the Rabies one is done over three sessions. Well we can't complain, don't want to be catching any raving animal diseases! The injection itself wasn't painful much, I squirm more plucking my eyebrows. Though I would have appreciated a lolly afterwards. Back in the 90s, it was only procedure to hand out a consolation prize!

But my my, health comes at a cost! The two vaccinations set us back over 200 euros each. Thats equivalent to 6 traveling days' worth of money. Whoo... Money is running out fast even before we set off to our first destination!

So the countdown continues - we're still aiming to start 1st August. Still looking for the right travel insurance and get the visas. Means only one thing: emptying the bank!

But we know it's going to be so, so worth it.

Yay, I can't wait!

Welcome to the first post of our travel blog. It's still quite a while before we actually commence our journey, but we've been planning this for quite some time. This post will explain what this blog is all about. We will be regularly updating this site with our adventures and thoughts about what our experiences have taught us. It will keep you informed about where we are, and what our next destinations will be.

This is a brief (and adaptable) outline of our journey:

August 09:
Paris, France
Munich, Germany

Prague, Czech Republic
Krakow, Poland
Warsaw, Poland
Riga, Latvia
Tallinn, Estonia

September 09:
St Petersburg, Russia
Moscow, Russia

October 09:
Mongolia

November 09:
Beijing, China

December 09:
Hong Kong, China

January 09:
Darwin, Australia
Brisbane, Australia
Sydney, Austrlia

On the left, you will see that we have separated the posts into different categories. The How to... and We tried this for you sections are our attempts to pass on any advice and wisdom we have ascertained to you. Of course, as a precautionary word of warning, following the advice word-for-word is taken at your own risk!

There is also an album which is a collection for all the times where no words could describe what we have encountered. Afterall, a picture speaks a thousand words. It will also be a good way for you to see that we have been eating well (Hi Mum) and for you to meet the friends we made along the way.

We love to know that people actually read this, so please leave comments or even leave requests/recommendations for what we should do next!
